Weekend Fun

For the most part, it was a nice weekend. I didn't spend one once of my time in the outdoors today, but I did go on a 'chat' walk with Carrie yesterday. I suppose that would make up for my lack of exercise today.

Not that I didn't do anything today. Laundry and cleaning seem to be my Sunday norms. Today was also 'going through old bills and receipts' day with an added 'spilling half a jug of liquid laundry detergent' moment. Cleaned the mess, cooked my dinner, battled my cat for rights to my chair (I didn't win. She's in it right now). All in all, a nice weekend.

However, in mist of the paperwork, I found my test results for my last medical checkup. Forgot about the whole 'being low on HDL cholesterol' problem. I'll have to put more effort into improving that. Living a long and prosperous life aren't just for trekkies, ya know.

Updating life

Finished!:
- "The Secret Life of Bees" by Sue Monk Kidd
I just finished the last chapter and it was a really good story. I loved the language of the words and the symbolism that the author weaved with the bees and the life of teenager Lily Owen. This is probably one of those books where I'll be saying "You haven't read this book?! Why not!? oh for the love of God, why not!?"

- My budget for 2009
Done! ... for the moment. I have a good start on it and I'm sure I'll be updated at time goes on. If I'll stick to my budget is another matter...

- Next activities in 101 list
I'll post an update of all on the 101/1001 list (past, present and future) soon.

Still Working on:
- "You on a Diet" by Mehmet C. Oz and Michael F. Roizen
Working on reading this but slowly. Usually, I get to a chapter (or 1/2 a chapter) before bed.

- A new blog format and ideas for content
Yes... still working on. I'm waiting for inspiration.

- Friday night plans
I ended up putting photos in my albums. My Friday nights. Fun...

Lazy Sunday wasn't really lazy

For the first time in a long while, I actually have a weekend where I don't need to think about what the rest of the week means for school assignments. It's a nice feeling.

Q: What do I plan to do now?

A: I don't know. I'd like to sleep eventually but this weekend was busy with caching, parties and cleaning (yes, I cleaned! I'm shocked too).

Bills are paid for the moment and Christmas shopping is underway. The tree and decorations didn't get up today, but I'm hoping soon. I also must have my assault plan for the holiday cookie swap I signed up for.

I have a big pile of "to read" books that accumulated during the semester and still sits there because I can't decide which book to start with. I am heavy with excitement for even getting time TO decide. And then there are other projects I want to get working on. :-)

Oh the possibilities!

Bad Sheep!

The title of this blog is from the Little Prince, probably my favorite children's book out there. I've quoted from the book often enough that it needed a special tribute here. "Draw me a sheep" is from the scene where the main character mets the Little Prince for the first time:

Now I stared at this sudden apparition with my eyes fairly starting out of my head in astonishment. Remember, I had crashed in the desert a thousand miles from any inhabited region. And yet my little man seemed neither to be straying uncertainly among the sands, nor to be fainting from fatigue or hunger or thirst or fear. Nothing about him gave any suggestion of a child lost in the middle of the desert, a thousand miles from any human habitation.

When at last I was able to speak, I said to him: "But, what are you doing here?" And in answer he repeated, very slowly, as if he were speaking of a matter of great consequence:

"If you please, draw me a sheep..."

So, being me, I tried to draw a sheep. It's not easy. Sure, there are alot of websites that can show you how but implementing is harder when one can't even draw a straight line.
After a few attempts, here's what I came up with:

Better than my other rejects, thank you very much.
