I can see that it's been nearly a year since I last updated this blog. The 101 tasks in 1001 days has been officially dead for a long while. The reason really was because it was getting a little stressful trying figure out which on the list to work on and to get it done. The list will remain up since I found it's more likely to get it done when I'm NOT aware of it.
This year, I'm simplifying.
I came across this habit forming method- The 6 Changes Method. Basically, you choose 6 things you want to make a habit in your life and spend time working on just ONE habit each two months until it's engraved as a habit.
It's simple, logical, but tries the patience. The thought is that 'I want to make it all a habit now.' However, it makes sense. The reason why New Year's resolutions doesn't work for long is because of this impatience to get it all done can get overwhelming and can easily be abandoned. This is what happened to me with the 101 in 1001.
So Step one: Pick 6 habits for 2010
Here's my list:
1) Wake up an hour earlier.
2) Run 2-3 times a week.
3) Study or read more.
4) Eat Healthier
5) Clean the litterboxes everyday.
6) Write everyday.
This will change as the year progresses for two reasons. 1) I hope that, if I'm successful with one habit, it will affect my behaviour with the other habits on the list. 2) The priorities of what to change in my life will probably change as well. (i.e. the litterbox is important to me at the moment but that could change in two months)
Step 3 is to commit as publicly as possible. So the blog is being restarted. And the blog will show up on my facebook account. I don't usually like people knowing what I'm doing based on the particular belief that no one really cares what I'm doing. However, I do know from previous experience that public commitment does work (when I did the $20 challenge, I remained committed mostly because people where asking me how I was doing with it).
Have a Happy 2010!!
